VESTRY

The Episcopal Church defines the vestry as "the legal representative of the parish" for corporate property matters, but we see it primarily as a ministry team leading and serving the parish.

St. Chad's vestry has nine members serving three-year terms, with three rotating off and three newly elected each year. Each member chairs or liaises with a major ministry area: vestry leadership, membership, stewardship, outreach, building and grounds, worship, fellowship, communications, and Christian education. Two members hold special roles: the senior warden, who leads the parish between rectors and supports the rector, and the junior warden, who assists with church business and heads a committee. The vestry's core responsibilities include defining the congregation's mission, selecting the rector, and managing resources and finances.

A treasurer and clerk also attend vestry meetings, handling finances and minutes respectively. New members are elected each January at the annual meeting. If you feel called to serve, contact the senior or junior warden for more information.
